Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been praised by legendary French talent Paul Pogba.

Kobbie Mainoo is set to sign a new contract with Manchester United before the end of this season, which ensures his immediate future will be on the pitch at Old Trafford.

He will be a key figure for whoever is the manager. But Mainoo almost followed in Paul Pogba’s footsteps by heading out the door under Ruben Amorim.

Now, Pogba has issued his stance on Mainoo.

Paul Pogba says Kobbie Mainoo can have a great career at Manchester United

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, Pogba was asked about Mainoo’s future, to which he had plenty of praise.

“He’s such a talented kid. He’s still young. It’s really difficult. It’s all about how he feels. He’s going to have all the clubs after him; this is for sure.

“Maybe it’s not the right decision. And it’s really hard for me to say he should leave when he’s loved by the people at United.

“He’s such a great player, big potential, and he can have a great career at Manchester United also.

“So I don’t know, but I just wish him the best. I don’t know what decision he’s going to make. I just want to see this kid play because it’s enjoyable to see him play football.”

Mainoo’s future looks bright at United, which wasn’t the case four months ago, and it now seems like he will go on to be the club legend he has the potential to be.

Mainoo is the direct successor to Pogba at United

Pogba left United in 2022 ahead of Erik ten Hag’s arrival as he returned to Juventus on a free contract.

Then, just 18 months later, Mainoo emerged as United’s newest academy midfield breakout, being Pogba’s direct successor as a Carrington graduate midfielder.

However, as good as Pogba was in spells, Mainoo could go on to become a much more memorable player with his contributions at United.

Already, Mainoo has led United to an FA Cup, and next season, with a new midfield partner, United could be aiming for further silverware, including a proper Premier League title challenge.

Mainoo will need to take the next step in his career now that he is set to be on wages befitting a star player.
