MOSCOW, Idaho - Joining his teammate Isiah to play football at the next level, Idaho's Jhamell Blenman, known to most as "Deuce", has signed a contract with the Canadian Football League's BC Lions in British Columbia.Originally from Compton, CA, Blenman redshirted his first year at Washington State in 2021 before returning to the Golden State to play a season at Cerritos College, where he tallied 38 tackles, an interception, and blocked a kick. In 2023, he came back to the Palouse as a Vandal, where he flashed on special teams and tallied 18 combined tackles in '23 and '24.Breaking onto the scene in 2025, Blenman played in all 12 games for Idaho, racking up 44 tackles and eight pass breakups along with his first two career interceptions at the DI level.Idaho head coach Thomas Ford believes that Blenman's signing is a culmination of patience and hard work that led to a breakout senior campaign."Couldn't be more proud of Deuce! He was a guy who was patient throughout his 3 seasons here and when he got a chance to be a full time starter this year he really took advantage of his opportunity. He had an outstanding pro day as well. Came in prepared and tested off the charts. Very excited to see what he does up north!"While the Lions are up north, they are headquartered in Vancouver, on the northwest side of the Washington border, meaning Blenman will only take a day's drive from his college stomping grounds to his new home in the pros. BC went 11-7 in the 2025 season, knocking off the Calgary Stampeders in the West Semifinal before falling to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a berth to the Grey Cup, the CFL's equivalent of the Super Bowl. Blenman will join former Idaho Vandal Jermaine Jackson as Palouse products to kick off their professional careers in BC.SOCIAL MEDIA: Follow the Vandals on Facebook, Instagram, and X for the latest updates.
