Young Apostles seek referee change ahead of crucial Nations FC clash

Young Apostles FC have requested a change of referee ahead of their crucial Ghana Premier League matchday 32 encounter against Nations FC as the relegation battle intensifies.

The club has officially written to the Ghana Football Association asking for the reassignment of referee Juliet Appiah from the fixture scheduled for this weekend.

In the letter addressed to the GFA General Secretary, Young Apostles cited concerns over the referee’s handling of their matchday 29 game against Swedru All Blacks, claiming some decisions during that encounter caused agitation among supporters and created tension at the stadium.

The club further raised concerns about perceptions surrounding the appointment because Nations FC is based in the Ashanti Region, the same region where the referee is reportedly based.

However, Young Apostles stressed that the request should not be viewed as an accusation against the referee but rather an attempt to protect the integrity of the competition and maintain a peaceful atmosphere during the high-stakes fixture.

"Our sole interest is to ensure the sanctity of the competition and a serene, secure sporting environment for both teams, officials, and fans," part of the statement read.
