Italian Open 2026: Jannik Sinner ties Novak Djokovic's all-time Masters 1000 win streak

Jannik Sinner equalled Novak Djokovic's record of 31 consecutive ATP Masters 1000 wins in defeating qualifier Andrea Pellegrino 6-2, 6-3 at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome on Tuesday (12 May).

The 88-minute victory moved the men's tennis world No. 1 into the last eight at the Campo Centrale, where he'll face the winner of Andrey Rublev and Nikoloz Basilashvili on Wednesday.

Pellegrino, ranked 155th in the world and playing his first career match against a top-10 opponent, had a chance at a double break point at 3-2 in the second set before Sinner shifted gears to take four straight games and close out the match on his first match point.

Sinner's streak — which he now shares with Djokovic — stretches back to last November's Paris Masters. Over that span, he's claimed five consecutive Masters 1000 titles and dropped just two sets in his last 62 matches at the level. He's also 57-0 against players ranked outside the top 50 since a loss to Dušan Lajović at Cincinnati in 2023, and 18-0 against fellow Italians on tour.

A win on Wednesday would make Sinner the sole owner of the all-time Masters 1000 win streak record.
