FIFA has officially unveiled the star-studded entertainment line-up for the opening ceremonies of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with global music stars set to perform across the tournament’s three host nations- United States, Canada and Mexico.

This year’s World Cup will feature multiple opening celebrations before the first matches in each host country, turning the tournament launch into a massive global entertainment spectacle.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the ceremonies would showcase the identity of each host nation while highlighting the tournament’s global spirit. “Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next days with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament," Infantino said in a statement.

Katy Perry to headline US opening ceremony

Katy Perry is set to headline the United States opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on June 12 before the US faces Paraguay. The singer confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, “Kicking my feet because I’m performing at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles on June 12th! Stay tuned for more info – don’t let this be #TheOneThatGotAway.” Here’s the post:

She will be joined by Future, Lisa, Tyla, Anitta, Rema and DJ Sanjoy.

Mexico ceremony to feature J Balvin, Belinda and Maná

The first official opening ceremony overall will take place on June 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City before Mexico takes on South Africa.

The Mexico ceremony is expected to heavily celebrate local culture and music traditions.

Toronto’s opening ceremony at BMO Field on June 12 will showcase several Canadian and international artists.

Shakira returns to the World Cup stage

Meanwhile, Shakira is also making a return to the World Cup stage nearly a decade after her iconic anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) became one of the most popular football songs ever.

The Colombian pop star recently announced a new World Cup track titled Dai Dai, which also features Burna Boy. Shakira teased the song from Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium and revealed that the full track will release on May 14.

Biggest World Cup ever

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will run from June 11 to July 19 and will be the biggest edition of the tournament so far. A total of 104 matches will be played across the three host countries, with the opening game taking place in Mexico City and the final set to be held in New Jersey.
