Fuming but fired up: Arteta turns Betis loss into motivation as Arsenal eye more silverware

Mikel Arteta has said he wants to create a dynasty at Arsenal and said defeat to Real Betis in pre-season will add 'more fire in the belly'.

Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Spanish side in Dublin on Wednesday evening, with thePremier League champions punished for a poor performance in Ireland.

Kepa Arrizabalaga's error saw Betis take the lead from a set piece, before Nelson Deossa's fine strike doubled their lead. Arsenal halved the deficit through Piero Hincapie, but Betis claimed the win when ex-West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals fired home.

Arteta said his side were 'fuming' following the defeat, but insisted the result will increase motivation ahead of the new season.

"Very upset, given a hard time. They are fuming, but this is good. That's what we need,"he said post-match.

"It's always good when you lose a match in pre-season; it creates a bit more fire in the belly. It's better to give those goals away in a friendly match than an official match.

"It's a balance between understanding where we are and the personnel we are playing - and the demands that are at the highest level."

After ending the club's 22-year title drought last season, Arteta said the aim this season is to compete for every trophy possible, as he looks to build a dynasty at the Emirates.

"We're going to go and attack every trophy, that's the ambition," he said.

"All the work that I've done in the summer is to understand what we need to do to win again & create a dynasty at this football club, that's the aim."
