Liverpool have made an approach to sign RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, holding talks with his agents ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bringing in a new winger is regarded as a priority, with Mohamed Salah set to leave at the end of the season, and the RB Leipzig forward has been fantastic in front of goal this season, chipping in with a combined 22 goals and assists in 33 matches across all competitions.

Bence Bocsak has lauded the 19-year-old as "unstoppable", but any deal is likely to be on the expensive side, with a potential asking price of £87m recently being touted.

Salah, on the other hand, hasn't reached his usual dizzy heights this season, but he is signing off on a positive note, scoring in the 2-1 Merseyside derby victory against Everton last weekend.

The Egyptian has scored a whopping 257 goals for Liverpool, and could be extremely difficult to replace, but Diomande looks like an exciting option, having performed so well in his debut Bundesliga campaign.

FSG are now ramping up their pursuit of the 19-year-old, according to a report from Football Insider, which states talks have now been held with his representatives, as bringing in a Salah replacement is regarded as a summer priority.

The Reds have a good working relationship with RB Leipzig, which could work in their favour, and Jurgen Klopp, who is now Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer, is regarded as a big fan.

Not only has the Ivory Coast international been in fine form in front of goal, but his defensive attributes have also been highlighted, which indicates he is a well-rounded winger.

Salah was forced off just before the hour mark in the 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday, and Arne Slot has admitted he is unsure whether he will play for Liverpool again.
