"They came into the match 16-3 with several ranked wins. We've wrestled with our doubles all year and are still searching for the right tandems. Another chance tomorrow to get that clicking."The Waves dropped the doubles point in narrow fashion. Maxi Homberg and Lasse Poertner came up short, falling 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker) to Cesar Cruz and Kuba Hrynkiewicz.Moving to singles, Homberg got the Waves on the board thanks to the help of Padro Parra, who retired during the second set.On flight six, Hugh Winter took care of Tristan Messerli in straight sets (6-4, 6-1). Hugh is sharp going into tomorrow's regular season final at No. 35 UC Santa Barbara, having won five of his last six singles matches, which includes a 3-0 record in conference play.Aleksa Pisaric extended the Waves' advantage to 3-1 following his victory over Kindhult. Pisaric fell 2-6 in set one before rebounding with a 6-3 win in set two. He clinched the point with a resounding 6-0 win in the third set. Fix tallied the clinching point on flight five with a straight-sets victory over Hrynkiewicz (7-6, 6-3). The sophomore has been otherworldly this season, racking up his sixth straight singles victory while reigning victorious in eight of his last 10. The Birkenfeld, Germany native has also won all six of his WCC singles matches and is 13-5 overall on the 2026 campaign.Edward Winter's match was abandoned in the third set on flight one, while Poertner's match on two was also abandoned."This is the strongest our conference has been in my eight seasons and I'm proud of the guys for earning a share of the regular season title," added Schaechterle. "But, we all feel the sense that there is more work to do. That starts tomorrow with a very tough UCSB team on the road."RESULTSSinglesEdward Winter (PEPP) vs. Max Wuelfing (LMU): 6-7, 3-2, abandonedLasse Poertner (PEPP) vs. Cesar Cruz (LMU): 6-3,2-6, 0-1, abandonedAleksa Pisaric (PEPP) def.
