Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said he will once again request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators to attend matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).Speaking to the media in Karachi, Naqvi said the board is making every effort to bring fans back to stadiums, adding that he will raise the matter again with the prime minister. He stressed, however, that any decision must take into account the ongoing global situation linked to the Middle East conflict. His remarks come days after the PCB announced that PSL matches would be held without spectators as part of the government’s austerity measures introduced amid the regional crisis. At the time, Naqvi confirmed that the tournament would be limited to two venues, Karachi and Lahore, in an effort to reduce public movement. The decision was aligned with broader government measures aimed at addressing the global fuel crisis through cost-saving strategies.Meanwhile, several franchise owners have called for the return of spectators, emphasizing that fan presence is essential to the league’s atmosphere and identity. They appealed to both the prime minister and provincial authorities to allow crowds during the ongoing edition.Naqvi also praised law enforcement agencies for ensuring the smooth conduct of the PSL despite current challenges. While he expressed his intention to push for spectators’ return, he ruled out any changes to the tournament schedule. He further stated that franchises would receive gate revenue, with the PCB covering related expenses. In addition, Naqvi revealed that plans are being considered to review and potentially rebuild the National Bank Cricket Arena to improve facilities.
