The controversy that has been growing in Saudi Arabia over the behavior of Al-Taawoun supporters during the match against Al-Hilal (0-6) on the seventh matchday of the league continues.

As a reminder, during a stoppage in play, the home team's supporters chanted "Jota, Jota, Jota" directly at Ruben Neves, a close friend of the Portuguese international who died on July 3, 2025 in a car accident alongside his brother.

The Portuguese international had first expressed his outrage on the pitch before once again voicing his anger in the mixed zone after the match. "I just hope they won't go and pray after what they did," Ruben Neves told the journalists present.

Already widely shared, these events took on a new dimension this Sunday. Cristiano Ronaldo, Diogo Jota's teammate with the national team and the leading figure of Saudi football, shared footage of the supporters' chant while calling for exemplary sanctions.

"The league must take action and punish this kind of behavior from supporters. This is no longer football, and limits need to be set. People who behave like this should never be allowed into a stadium again," the Portuguese legend wrote on Instagram.
