Man Utd in dreamland as club president drops transfer bombshell

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has confirmed that he would like to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana on a permanent deal during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old joined the Turkish Super Lig outfit on a season-long loan deal in September and he has played 28 times for the club, including every league fixture since his arrival.

Onana was Man Utd’s first-choice ‘keeper for two years following his move from Inter MIlan in 2024, but Altay Bayindir was favoured by ex-Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim during the early weeks of this season, and Man Utd subsequently agreed to send Onana on loan to Turkey after signing Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

Lammens has since established himself as the undisputed number one at Old Trafford, and the 13-time Premier League champions are now willing to offload Onana on a permanent basis this summer.

He is one of several stars expected to leave Man Utd ahead of next season, with the club also set to sell Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Manuel Ugarte and several others. Meanwhile, Casemiro has confirmed that he will depart Old Trafford on a Bosman deal when his current contract expires at the end of June.

Confirmed: Man Utd handed Andre Onana transfer boost

Man Utd had initially been expected to struggle in their bid to offload Onana this summer, but Trabzonspor have been suitably impressed by his form in 2025-26 and they are keen to finalise a permanent transfer this summer.

That is according to club president Dogan, who spoke to local outlet NTV Spor after Onana saved three penalties during a shootout win over Samsunspor in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals.

“Onana's career is already established,” he said (via The Mirror). “We like him. I've said this before. He has a certain plan for his career. If the conditions are right, we want him to stay. The final decision will be Onana's.”

Onana still has two years remaining on his current contract at Man Utd, but he is widely expected to depart the club on a permanent deal this summer.
