'We were well worth the win'

Birmingham City

Birmingham City ended a three-game winless run as they came from behind to win at Derby at lunchtime.

Blues head coach Chris Davies has been talking to BBC Radio WM:

"It was a game that had a bit of everything and we were well worth the win.

"We made a good start and against the run of play we gave away a sloppy goal but it was good to score so quickly afterwards.

"We had a character about us and grit and we'll need that this season and we dug in at the end."

'We conceded two very soft goals'

Derby County

Derby County fell to a third successive league defeat at home to Birmingham City.

The Rams had taken the lead through Bobby Clark.

Boss John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby:

"It's another game we didn't deserve to lose but we conceded two very soft goals.

"We didn't defend the far post properly [for the first goal] - the lads are saying there was a foul [for the second goal] but we've got to be stronger.

"The lads have been as good as they can, working as hard as they can - the back four is chopping and changing a lot and until we can have a settled team and stable back four we're going to have issues."

'Defeat to Bolton very hard on players'

Cardiff City

Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy said defeat to Bolton is "very hard" on the players and fans.

"To be perfectly honest we'd have been disappointed to be talking about a draw, so to be talking after a defeat is very hard on the players and our supporters," he told BBC Wales.

"I felt in the first half we looked dangerous without being at our best, I asked for a lot in the second half and they put that into practice. We created enough chances to win many games but today we didn't take them.

"If we'd have drawn 0-0 we'd have been disappointed so to lose it is even more so."

'Bolton showed a different side of themselves'

Bolton head coach Steven Schumacher said his players "showed a different side" of themselves to beat Cardiff.

"It's a funny old game, football is mad! Over the last five games we've had to work incredibly hard, we played better in the previous four than we did today and got nothing for our efforts," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We had to show a different side of us today which is really pleasing because it was difficult against a tough opponent who are hard to play against when you're tired.

"In this division you need goalkeepers that win you points, and today he [Gavin Bazunu] has done that. Cardiff created the clearer opportunities so you need your goalkeeper to make those saves for you and today he was outstanding."

'Not too concerned'

FT: Southampton 4-1 Bristol City

Not too concerned at this stage of the season. It's great to see that City can come here and create chances but they need to convert them with Southampton scoring four.

As Southampton scored their third and fourth City made changes and tried to get an equaliser but maybe comitted too many players forward.

Lorent Tolaj did get the equaliser but today Southampton had a bit too much.

Hammers still top as Saints march on

Championship table

West Ham United remain top after their win last night but Swansea move level on points by beating troubled Burnley along with West Brom who drew with QPR at lunchtime.

Middlesbrough left it late to beat Norwich and look at Southampton where Cyle Larin scored two more goals as they made it four successive home wins by seeing-off Bristol City.

These are grim times in Lancashire for Burnley and Preston.

A nice selection headache to have

FT: Swansea 3-1 Burnley

Swansea paid around £6m for Adam Idah last season and he's certainly found his scoring boots this season.

He scored his third goal of the season and worked tirelessly off the ball, and when he ran out of steam Vitor Matos had the luxury of replacing him with Zan Vipotnik - last season's top scorer in the Championship - who scored Swansea's third.

Throw in Ross Stewart's name as well and the Swans have three top class strikers on their books - with Stewart set to be fit again after the international break.

You would expect Swansea to score enough goals this season to challenge for a play-off spot. But considering they play with only one up front - can Vitor Matos keep everyone happy?

'I'd give the manager the Derby game'

Big trouble.

I said before the Wrexham game if they lost both could they make a decision. I'd go one more game, if we can't win against Derby then I'd look at what managers are out there.

It's just a mess. We look like we've cobbled a team on the cheap - players who look like they don't want to play for Burnley. The turnover for players has been ridiculous.

I feel sorry for the manager, but is he helping himself by playing players out of position? No.

FULL-TIME

Watford 1-2 Stoke

Well, even though the ending was a little more tense than expected, Stoke held on, and truthfully they deserved it far more than Watford.

When Jack McGlynn curled home to open the scoring for the visitors at the end of the first half, Mark Robins would have calmed down a little. His side should have been miles ahead and they had failed to beat Federico Ravaglia.

Come the second half and the match seemed all but wrapped up after good combination play saw Lamine Cisse tee-up Eric Bocat to half-volley past Ravaglia, doubling the lead.

But then Watford got one back through Amin Nabizada in the first of SIX minutes of injury time. The Hornets pushed, and pushed, but their sting was blunted by the full time whistle.

Watford grieved.

Stoke relieved.

FULL-TIME

Middlesbrough 4-3 Norwich

An old-fashioned ding-dong.

Mo Toure put Norwich in front inside one minute but the hosts roared back to lead after seven minutes thanks to goals from Seb Berhalter and Amario Cozier-Duberry.

Berhalter got his second before the break and it stayed that one until the 70th minute when Jovon Makama got one back for the Canaries.

Jacob Wright then levelled it up five minutes later and the away side looked the more likely to get a late winner until Ashley Phillips was in the right place to poke in from close range and give Boro the points.

Breathless stuff.
