South Africa, Zimbabwe set for white-ball tour of Namibia

Namibia is set to host South Africa and Zimbabwe for a T20I tri-series followed by a three-match ODI series against South Africa. All matches will be played at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The T20I tri-series starts on August 28, with the final slated for September 6, and the ODI series begins on September 9.

The tri-series is set to lay the groundwork for the launch of the Africa Cup in 2027, a competition envisioned to provide more African countries with opportunities to compete at the highest level. Further, all profits generated from the tri-series will be donated to the Africa Cricket Association to help the growth of the game across the continent.

“We are immensely grateful to Cricket South Africa and Zimbabwe Cricket for their commitment to this series, which reflects the strong partnership and shared vision to grow cricket across the African continent,” said Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller.

South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe are joint hosts of the upcoming Cricket World Cup in 2027. Cricket South Africa CEO Pholetsi Moseki felt the tri-series would build excitement aheadof the ICC tournament. “We are excited to be part of this white-ball tour, which not only further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the game in our neighbouring countries, but also builds excitement ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by all three nations,” he said.
