The technical team of the Egypt national football team, led by Hossam Hassan, has announced a preliminary 27-man squad ahead of the team’s international friendly against Russia national football team on May 28.The match forms part of Egypt’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on June 11 next year. According to reports from the Egyptian camp, the final squad will later be trimmed to 26 players in line with FIFA regulations for the tournament.The provisional squad includes several high-profile names, with captain Mohamed Salah leading the attacking options alongside Omar Marmoush and Mahmoud Trezeguet.Goalkeepers named in the squad are Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Al-Mahdi Suleiman and Mohamed Alaa. Defenders include Mohamed Hani, Tarek El Ashraf, Hamdi Fathy, Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Hossam Abdel-Maguid, Mohamed Abdelmonem and Ahmed Fotouh.The midfield department features Karim Hafez, Marwan Attia, Mohand Lashin, Nabil Emad Dunga, Mahmoud Saber, Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Imam Ashour, while the attacking line is completed by Mostafa Abdel-Raouf Ziko, Ibrahim Adel, Haitham Hassan, Aqtai Abdullah and Hamza Abdelkarim.Egypt’s team manager Ibrahim Hassan confirmed that the national team’s training camp will commence on May 21 at the National Teams Centre as preparations intensify for the upcoming global showpiece.He also stated that the final list for the World Cup will be confirmed after the friendly against Russia, with FIFA allowing only 26 players per participating nation.
