Tennis world No.1 Jannik Sinner and No.4 Novak Djokovic, among the men's singles favourites at the 2026 French Open, have been drawn in opposite halves of the draw and could meet each other in the final on 7 June. The draw was made in Paris on Thursday (21 May) and pitted both aces against local opponents in the first round. Djokovic is up against France's Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard while Sinner takes on wildcard Clement Tabur.Djokovic’s run to the Roland-Garros final looks particularly difficult with matches against Brazil’s João Fonseca, two-time French Open runner-up Casper Ruud and Tokyo 2020 champion Alexander Zverev a possibility should he advance through the bracket.Potential opponents on Sinner’s path include Ben Shelton, Alexander Bublik and Daniil Medvedev. On the women’s side, world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Coco Gauff are in the same half of the draw, which means they could face each other in the semi-finals.Sabalenka will play world No. 51 Jessica Bouzas in the first round to line up a potential quarter-final with Jessica Pegula later down the road.Coming off a defeat in the final at the 2026 Italian Open, Gauff will face fellow U.S. player Taylor Townsend in her opener on the French courts with another compatriot, Amanda Anisimova, also on the same side of the draw en route to the final.Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, Poland’s Iga Świątek, and Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina headline the bottom half of the women’s draw. This season's Australian Open winner Rybakina will look to extend her Grand Slam success to the clay. She faces Slovenia's Veronika Erjavec in the first round.
