The Filipina's busy schedule just got busier after being confirmed for the Hong Kong Open. Eala will play in an event that will also feature Paula Badosa, Diana Shnaider, and Wang Xinyu.

But where else will Eala play before the end of the season?

Alex Eala is expected to play four more tournaments before the end of 2026

The Filipina will return to action next week at the Singapore Tennis Open. The event has been upgraded from a WTA 250 to a WTA 500 this year and has moved later in the calendar. Eala lost in the second round of qualifying last season, but will arrive in 2026 as the third seed.

Then, Eala will travel to Japan for the 2026 Asian Games. She risks a $10,000 fine for skipping the China Open, but is willing to accept that potential punishment to represent her country. Eala is the favourite to win gold in 2026, having won bronze in China four years ago.

She will then attend the second WTA 1000 event in China, the Wuhan Open. Eala has never won a main draw match in Wuhan, a record she will be looking to improve upon in 2026.

Eala is slated to miss almost a month of tennis before the Hong Kong Open, although she could attend several tournaments during that period. WTA 500 events in Ningbo, China (Begins October 19) and Tokyo, Japan (Begins October 26) are likely destinations, but she could instead play another WTA 250 tournament. The Japan Open in Osaka will be played the same week as the Ningbo Open, and the Guangzhou Open runs alongside the Pan Pacific Open.

The Hong Kong Open will be the last WTA Tour event of 2026. However, if Eala can sneak into the top eight of the 'Live WTA Race', she'll then take a trip to California for the WTA Finals in Indian Wells…

Can Alex Eala still qualify for the 2026 WTA Finals?

Eala is almost out of contention for a WTA Finals spot. To reach the year-end Championships, she must close a 2,053-point gap to the eighth-placed Linda Noskova.

The odds are stacked against her, but it's still possible. It's also worth remembering that players often withdraw from the WTA Finals. If that happens this year, Eala may need fewer points than expected to qualify.

This year's WTA Finals will begin on Saturday, November 6.
