NEW DELHI: India climbed to 12th place in the Asian Games medal standings after adding three medals on Saturday morning. Sawan Barwal won silver in the men’s marathon, while the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team of Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod also claimed silver. Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar added a bronze in mixed doubles squash. India now have 27 medals — three gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze — at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. China continue to lead the standings with 103 gold, 38 silver and 25 bronze medals, followed by hosts Japan and South Korea.

Gold — Women's kabaddi team India defeated Iran 37-33 to win the women’s kabaddi gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, securing their fourth title after previous triumphs in 2010, 2014 and 2022. The Silver — Sawan Barwal, men’s marathon Sawan Barwal ended India’s 44-year wait for a men’s marathon medal at the Asian Games by winning silver in 2:11:37. It was India’s first medal in the event since the 1982 Delhi Games. India’s medal tally at Asian Games 2026

India’s 27 medals comprise three gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze. The gold medals have come from women’s T20 cricket and the 10m air pistol mixed team event. India’s silver medallists include Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, Vidarsa Vinod, Himanshu Dhillon, Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane, Mirabai Chanu, Naorem Roshibina Devi, the mixed 4x400m relay team, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar, Gulveer Singh, Sawan Barwal and the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team. The bronze medal winners include Rudrankksh Patil, Suchika Tariyal, India’s skeet teams, Jay Meena, the men’s badminton team, Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan, Seema Kumari, Manush Shah and Diya Chitale, Manpreet Kaur, Baranica Elangovan, and Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar.
