Considering his form in recent times, it was no surprise to see John McGinn pop up with the winning goal for Scotland in their World Cup opener against Haiti. The midfielder has been brilliant as of late, even if he has not always necessarily impressed Roy Keane. The Cork man publicly questioned McGinn in the buildup to this tournament. While he is a fan of the Scot, he also suggested that he could look like a 'pub player' on occasion when he fails to turn up in certain games. Those comments caused drew quite the response from both Aston Vill and Scotland fans, who called out Keane for what they felt was an uncalled for criticism. As it turns out, the man at the centre of the row was not all that bothered by them.Roy Keane will enjoy John McGinn response to criticismJohn McGinn has gone through the most memorable period in his career in recent weeks, winning the Europa League with Aston Villa before leading his country to a historic victory at the World Cup.He is no doubt in a good mood as a result, perhaps explaining why he has been so forgiving to Roy Keane on the back of his questionable comments.Speaking to ITV, McGinn himself raised Keane's recent claims when asked another question about the Irishman. He went on to suggest that the whole thing was overblown and he actually agreed with some of what the pundit said.I thought you were going to say something else there! He's getting slagged for that, I actually don't think it's that bad. He actually followed up with something complimentary. He was right. I actually think the amount of games I'm looking like a pub player is becoming less and less as I get older. I try not have as many games like that and be more consistent.I didn't think it was too bad. People were saying 'did you see what he said', I just thought it was quite nice that they were talking about me.A top man.John McGinn is certainly not insecure when it comes to his performances on the football pitch, acknowledging himself that he still has some improving to do when it comes to his levels of consistency. As for Roy Keane, he will no doubt respect manner in which the player has responded to the criticism. Not only did he accept some of what the Irishman said, but he also downplayed any talk of a feud between the pair.In fairness to the former Manchester United star, he has wished the Scots well in this World Cup and suggested they could put it up to Morocco and Brazil in their next two group games.
