Liverpool launch an improved package for Yan Diomande. Luke Shaw faces a Manchester United pay cut, Sammy Silvera weighs offers, and Portugal manager Roberto Martinez eyes a move to Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr.

Reds submit improved package for Diomande

Liverpool have taken an aggressive step forward in their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s breakout winger Yan Diomande by signalling their intent to structure a package worth €100 million (£87m).

The improved offer represents a major step up from The Reds' opening baseline as they attempt to find common ground with the Bundesliga side for the highly rated 19-year-old Cote d'Ivoire international.

The Athletic reports: ”Liverpool have intensified their pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, expressing a willingness to put forward a package approaching €100m [£87m] for the Ivory Coast forward.

”That is an improvement on an earlier proposal by the Premier League club during dialogue with their Bundesliga counterparts regarding where they are prepared to go financially to land Diomande.”

Shaw told to accept pay cut for new United deal

Luke Shaw will be required to slash his current salary demands if he hopes to extend his decade-long stay at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old left-back is on the verge of entering the final 12 months of his deal, and the club's leadership is intent on driving down his £200,000-a-week wages while actively searching for a younger structural replacement.

The Sun explains: ”Luke Shaw will have to take a pay cut if he is to sign a new Manchester United contract. Shaw, 30, is about to enter the final year of his existing United deal, which does not include the option of an additional year.

”The left-back currently earns £200,000-a-week and United are not expected to offer the same salary.

”Shaw will be 32 before the start of the 2027/28 season and United are already in the market for a new long-term left-back.

”If United decide to keep Shaw, it could be on a similar arrangement to Harry Maguire’s renewal in April.”

Silvera fields offers ahead of Boro exit

Middlesbrough winger Sammy Silvera has formal contract proposals on the table from across the globe as his time at the Riverside Stadium draws to a close.

The 25-year-old Australia international will become a free agent at the end of June, sparking a battle between Championship clubs, League One frontrunners, and interested MLS franchises.

The Mirror states: ”Sammy Silvera is weighing up his options after receiving offers from clubs interested in snapping him up ahead of the expiry of his contract with Middlesbrough.

”The Australian winger, 25, is poised to leave the Championship play-off finalists when his contract expires at the end of this month and already has offers on the table.

”Silvera has Championship suitors and is also being pursued by ambitious League One clubs. There is interest from the MLS in the former Central Coast Mariners star and he could yet decide to move overseas.

”Silvera made 23 appearances for Middlesbrough last season, registering four goal contributions.”

Al Nassr target Martinez for vacant post

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez has opened talks with Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr regarding a lucrative return to club management after the conclusion of this summer's tournament.

The Saudi side have pinpointed the 52-year-old tactician as their primary target to succeed Jorge Jesus, potentially reuniting him with national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Mail reports: ”This summer's tournament is expected to be Martinez's final one at the helm, with a return to club football seeming likely.

”And reports emerging today suggest that the 52-year-old is in talks with Ronaldo's Al Nassr over a potential cash-grab switch to the Middle East.

”The Saudi Pro League side are on the hunt for a new manager to replace Jorge Jesus, who departed last month after winning the league.

”It was initially thought that the Saudi government-owned club had their sights set on the appointment of ex-Fulham boss Marco Silva, but he looks set to join Benfica.”
