Ashley Harkleroad is back in the news, but this time it is not about tennis. The former US tennis player, who once made headlines for posing in Playboy, is now facing a personal change in her life. According to TMZ, her husband Chuck Adams filed for separation earlier this month. The report says Adams, 54, has asked the court to end their marriage, pointing to “irreconcilable differences.” The couple had been together for more than 16 years after getting married in September 2009. Along with the separation request, Adams is also asking for joint custody of their two children. This situation has now turned into a legal process, and it could take time before everything is settled.

Ashley Harkleroad and Chuck Adams were not just partners in life, but also shared a connection through tennis. Both played professionally, though Harkleroad had a longer and more visible career. Adams later moved into coaching and even worked with her during her rise in the early 2000s. Harkleroad turned professional in 2000 and spent over a decade on the tour. She won eight singles titles and competed in all four Grand Slams. While she did not go beyond the third round in singles, she found better results in doubles, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and the French Open. Still, one of the biggest talking points of her career came in 2008. That year, she became the first active tennis player to appear in Playboy. Speaking about that moment, she said, “I thought about it, and it was something that I did. I’m proud of my body. I was representing a female athlete’s body.” The shoot brought her a lot of attention outside tennis. After retiring in 2012, Harkleroad explored different paths. She briefly worked as a model on online platforms and also appeared as an analyst on Tennis Channel. Her life moved away from professional sport, but she stayed connected to the game in different ways. Now, the focus has shifted to her personal life. As per the report, Adams is asking for joint legal custody of their children, who are 17 and 15 years old. At the same time, he wants Harkleroad to have physical custody, with him getting visitation rights. He has also requested the court to block any spousal support being given to her. The situation is still developing, and no final decision has been made yet. For now, it remains a private matter that has come into public view because of their past in tennis and Harkleroad’s well-known career moments.
