With his latest victory, Medvedev has just entered the top ten in the all-time list of men's players with the most hard-court final appearances, which is full of tennis legends.

Medvedev's appearance in the title bout on Tuesday will mark his 38th hard-court final, a tally that ranks 10th in the Open Era and is just six fewer than ninth-placed Stefan Edberg. Edberg reached 44 finals on the surface in his career, trailing Pete Sampras (48), Rafael Nadal (52) and Ivan Lendl (54).

Andy Murray (55) is in fifth on the all-time list, and has clinched seven of those hard-court final appearances at Grand Slams. Murray reached the Australian Open final five times and lost on every occasion, but managed to triumph in one of his two visits to the US Open final.

Murray had just one less appearance than the man in fourth place, Jimmy Connors (56), who also holds the record for the most ATP titles of all time with 109. Andre Agassi is in third with 69, but Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are well ahead in the top two spots.

Djokovic has a tally of 96 and counting, and will likely break the record of Federer, who totalled 98 hard-court finals in his career. Djokovic's last hard-court final came earlier this season at the Australian Open, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz.

Medvedev is bidding to secure the 24th title of his career, and will like his chances of doing so against Rublev. Medvedev has a record of seven wins and just two losses versus Rublev at tour-level events.
