Lionel Scaloni, manager of reigning world champions Argentina, shared his thoughts on the fierce competition at the 2026 World Cup, offering high praise for Mexico's performances so far.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Argentina's Round of 32 clash against Cape Verde, the South American tactician highlighted several national teams that have stood out in the tournament.

Scaloni noted that the tournament has been incredibly balanced, filled with tightly contested matches and major surprises.

The Argentine manager singled out squads like Spain, Brazil, Portugal, Colombia, and Mexico. Regarding the team led by Javier Aguirre, Scaloni expressed genuine excitement over the brand of football the Mexicans are playing.

"We are seeing very evenly matched games, with the exception of France," Scaloni said. "Even Mexico, I think they have won their matches very convincingly. Other games have been extremely close. The reality is that nothing is going to be easy from here on out.

"Brazil is looking very strong, and Mexico played a great match against Ecuador. Colombia is in fine form, Spain logically as well. I don't want to leave anyone out because Portugal is there too—these are the teams that will be fighting until the very end."

It is worth noting that the Mexican National Team delivered a convincing 2-0 victory over Ecuador in the Round of 32 to secure their spot in the next stage. Tomorrow, Friday, July 3, a heavily favored Argentina squad will look to secure their own advancement against a captivating Cape Verde team.
