Carlos Alcaraz will not compete at Wimbledon 2026, extending his injury layout beyond the grass tennis season. The seven-time Grand Slam champion has been sidelined since April with a wrist injury, which has forced him to miss the upcoming French Open (24 May-7 June).A month on, having not played since the Barcelona Open on 14 April, the Spanish Olympic silver medallist announced that he will miss consecutive Grand Slams for the first time since 2020, a season disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.Alcaraz said on social media on Tuesday (19 May): "My recovery is going well and I’m feeling much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to compete, which is why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon."They are two truly special tournaments for me and I will miss them a lot. We’ll keep working to come back as soon as possible!"Wimbledon takes place from 29 June to 12 July, a tournament where Alcaraz is a two-time men's singles champion. He will also skip the warm-up event in London at Queen's, where he has also lifted the trophy twice, from 15-21 June. The 23-year-old will now have missed two consecutive ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Madrid and Rome, alongside the two ‘Channel Slams’ in Paris and London. He has won each of those Grand Slams back-to-back in his career.Alcaraz’s absence from Roland-Garros and Wimbledon means that the world No. 2 will lose 3,300 ranking points from the majors alone. Third-ranked Alexander Zverev goes into the French Open with 6,255 points to make up on the Spaniard.World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has swept up the titles without Alcaraz on the scene, claiming six straight Masters 1000 trophies and completing the career Golden Masters.Alcaraz will focus on regaining full fitness for the U.S. hard court swing, which culminates with the former number one’s title defence at the US Open in August.
