Muyoti hails tactical discipline after Police famous victory over Leopards

Kenya Police head coach Nicholas Muyoti has attributed his side’s emphatic 3-0 victory over AFC Leopards to a well-executed tactical approach, following their FKF Premier League clash over the weekend.

Muyoti underscored the importance of understanding the opposition’s playing style, noting that his side’s disciplined structure was key to securing all three points.

“We got it right tactically today. We knew Leopards are a team that likes to dominate possession, so we aimed to restrict them using a mid-block. From that structure, we managed transitions effectively, and that’s where our goals came from,” said Muyoti.

Looking ahead, Muyoti challenged his forwards to maintain their sharpness in front of goal, emphasizing consistency in the final stretch of fixtures.

“I would love them to continue the same way. The joy of football is scoring goals, and we shall keep emphasizing that in training to ensure we get more goals, especially considering how strong our defence is at the moment,” he added.

On the other side, AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani pointed to defensive lapses as a major factor behind the heavy defeat, while urging his players to remain resilient.

“We had some defensive issues in the game, but that happens in football. We cannot crucify the players. We have to keep encouraging them even after such a disappointing result,” Ambani stated.

Attention now shifts to the highly anticipated Mashemeji Derby, where AFC Leopards will face arch-rivals Gor Mahia in what is shaping up to be a potential title decider. Ambani stressed the significance of the fixture, framing it as a must-win encounter following the setback against Kenya Police.

“The derby is now a must-win. The players need to understand that after every setback, there is always a comeback. There is always another game, and we are still firmly in the title race,” he said.
