It is understood that Araújo has interest from clubs in Serie A, including Juventus and Napoli, but they do not have the financial resources for such a deal.

Araújo is also on Atletico Madrid’s radar, which gives you an idea about his work rate as a full-back and appeals to Diego Simeone, who likes hardworking players.

The report adds that Sporting CP will listen to offers starting from £34m-£43m.

When did Maxi Araujo join Sporting CP?

Araújo joined Sporting CP in August 2014 following a transfer from Deportivo Toluca.

This means he did not play under former United head coach Ruben Amorim during his time in Lisbon.

He has since established himself as a versatile option at left back, with the ability to play further up the pitch when required.

Araújo has scored six goals and recorded four assists so far this season.
