Another Premier League Club enters race to send Julián Quiñones to the Champions League

Julián Quiñones' outstanding FIFA World Cup campaign with Mexico has put him on the radar of several Premier League clubs. While Chelsea had been heavily linked with the Mexican forward in recent days, Aston Villa have now emerged as the latest contender.

Villa are reportedly interested in signing Mexico's leading scorer at the 2026 World Cup and could be willing to spend significantly to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season, when they will compete in the UEFA Champions League.

Aston Villa Monitoring Julián Quiñones

After speculation surrounding a move to Chelsea cooled, another Premier League club has set its sights on "La Pantera." Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, are coming off an impressive campaign that saw them finish fourth in the league and secure another Champions League berth for 2026-27.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Villa have already contacted Quiñones' representatives to gauge his interest in leaving Al Qadsiah for English football. The club is said to have presented an ambitious sporting project, with the goal of eventually challenging the Premier League's traditional "Big Six" — Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.

365Scores reports that Villa's interest is nothing new. The club has been tracking Quiñones for months and sent scouts to evaluate him during the 2026 World Cup. Their verdict was highly positive after the striker recorded four goals and one assist for Mexico. Villa's recruitment department reportedly believes his athletic profile and playing style are well suited for the demands of the Premier League.

Villa Taking a Patient Approach

Despite their growing interest, Aston Villa are not expected to rush into a deal.

Following Quiñones' performances with Mexico, the club has approved pursuing the striker but remains cautious in its approach, Tavolieri reports.

"The English club contacted the player's camp to assess the feasibility of a potential transfer. Discussions between the parties have intensified recently, illustrating Aston Villa's growing interest in Julián Quiñones."

However, Tavolieri stressed that no formal offer has been submitted at this stage.

"No official bid has been made so far, but the situation could evolve in the coming weeks."

As things stand, Aston Villa have yet to present an official proposal to Al Qadsiah. Quiñones recently extended his contract with the Saudi club through 2029.
