Crows captain Jordan Dawson absent from training for personal reasons amid search for missing brother

Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson was absent from his club’s main training session on Wednesday at West Lakes due to “personal reasons”, following reports of a sensitive family matter.

The Advertiser reported early on Wednesday afternoon that Dawson’s brother, Jaryd, is missing from his Robe home, prompting a search amid fears for his safety.

The report states Jaryd was last seen around 2:30pm on Tuesday in South Australia’s south-east, and has not made contact with family since.

His wife, Jessica, posted to social media on Wednesday morning, pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

“If anyone has heard from Jaryd since around 2:30pm yesterday please let us know,” the Instagram story read.

Crows coach Matthew Nicks was asked about the unfolding situation in his weekly press conference.

“Dawson won’t train unfortunately for personal reasons,” Nicks told Adelaide journalists.

Foxfooty.com.au has contacted the Adelaide Football Club, which echoed Nicks’ statement.

Jaryd is a vice-captain of the Robe Roosters’ reserves side and also featured in their A Grade Grand Final in the Mid South Eastern Football League last year.
