Ryan Giggs names two midfielders he'd like Man Utd to sign to replace Casemiro

Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United must be in the market for two top central midfielders to replace Casemiro in the summer.

The end of the season is near, and Manchester United are on the cusp of qualifying for the Champions League.

It also means Casemiro is coming to the end of his time at Old Trafford, after announcing his exit in January.

That means United will be in the market for midfielders, on top of dealing with the uncertainty over Manuel Ugarte’s future. Hence why United fans are calling for a revamp in the midfield department.

Will Ryan Giggs ever be overtaken as English football’s most decorated player?

Ryan Giggs verdict on Man Utd midfield targets

It promises to be a busy summer for United.

Not only will Ineos need to decide whether to keep Michael Carrick as head coach, but they also need to settle on targets to sign, who will take the team further next season and beyond.

Everyone has their opinion on what targets would make the biggest difference.

United legend Ryan Giggs has now weighed in with two names who are currently playing in the Premier League.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Giggs named Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton as the two midfield options he would target to replace Casemiro in the summer.

“I like Anderson,” Giggs said.

“I like Wharton. We’ve got to have a left footer in the midfield, best players.

“I haven’t seen that much of Baleba. I’ve not seen a lot of him.

“Yeah, so I can’t really comment on him, but yeah, I like them two.”

United have been linked with Baleba for over a year, but it remains to be seen who they will formalise their interest in this summer.

United are concerned Adam Wharton is too similar to Kobbie Mainoo – is this a good reason to back away from a deal?

Or are two Kobbie Mainoo types actually smart to have…?

Liverpool still pushing for Adam Wharton

United will have competition for Anderson and Wharton, regardless of who they target at the end of the season.

Liverpool are said to be keen on Crystal Palace ace Wharton, and according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, they are still “showing interest” in signing the £80m-rated England international.

The Merseyside outfit are said to be “exploring their midfield options with Curtis Jones a potential departure,” and “uncertainty” over the future of other players, including Alexis Mac Allister.

United could still beat Liverpool in the race for any of these players, with the Red Devils building towards a positive future after turning things around this season.
