Liverpool transfer news as Djed Spence is reportedly closing in on a move after being offered to the Reds, while an exit is expected to be confirmed from Anfield very soon

Liverpool is going through its final preparations before the start of the 2026/27 season, and fans will hope that involves some more new signings.

The Reds have added Ronald Araujo to the ranks this week, with the defender joining on loan from Barcelona and adding to the arrivals of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz this summer.

There is plenty more work to be done in Andoni Iraola’s squad, though, with a replacement for Mohamed Salah yet to have been found as the pursuit of Bradley Barcola continues, with other options also being considered on the right wing, while there could be some departures to come.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Djed Spence (Tottenham)

Djed Spence is reportedly closing in on a move away from Tottenham after the defender was supposedly offered to Liverpool.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan is leading the race to sign the England international, with Spence claimed to be “on his way” to the San Siro. The Serie A champion is said to have agreed a deal in the region of $35 million (€30M).

That comes after Ben Jacobs told The United Stand last week that Spence had been offered to both Liverpool and Manchester United, although the Reds never followed up on the approach.

Liverpool.com says: Spence's versatility might have been attractive for Liverpool, given that he can play on the right or left of the defense. The Reds' issues at right-back are well known, while left-back is a bit of a strange spot, with Kostas Tsimikas now back in the fold, while Milos Kerkez still hasn't quite convinced.

A move for Spence never really seemed to have much legs in it, though, and with Ronald Araujo now in to cover center-back and right-back, it would be a surprise to see the Reds target any more defenders.

Ifeanyi Ndukwe (Liverpool)

Ifeanyi Ndukwe will leave Liverpool on loan next week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 18-year-old is ineligible to play for the Reds in the forthcoming season, having not met the necessary points to get a work permit in the United Kingdom, and is therefore set to head out on loan.

Romano claims the move could come soon after Liverpool’s final pre-season friendlies against Como on Sunday, with Ndukwe and Liverpool looking to pick the best option. Proposals are said to have arrived from Portugal, while the player’s agent has confirmed he has been in talks with clubs in Denmark.

Liverpool.com says: It is a shame that Ndukwe will have to play his soccer away from Liverpool until at least January, although this might be the best thing for him in the long run.

A loan move will enable him to play first-team football without quite so much pressure as he would experience with the Reds, and then he can return to Anfield with some invaluable experience ready to take the next step. Based on what we've seen this summer, Liverpool might have something special on its hands.
