Coco Gauff has made a habit of comeback victories at the Italian Open 2026, and her round of 16 match on Monday (11 May) was no different.

The USA world No. 3 fought back from a set and match point down to prevail against Iva Jovic 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. The all-U.S. clash gave the Foro Italico stadium a battle for the ages across two hours, 45 minutes of ferocious tennis.

Gauff heads into the WTA 1000 quarter-final in Rome, where she will meet either 21st seed Elise Mertens or No. 8 seed Mirra Andreeva. That makes it consecutive matches where she has prevailed from a set down.
