14 Years Later, Man Utd Can Finally Sign 'Best Player of All Time'

It could be an exciting upcoming summer transfer window for Manchester United after it was confirmed that they've qualified for the Champions League.

The Manchester club can now shop in a different market than last summer, being able to offer European football to their targets.

The Red Devils have been going in the wrong direction over the last few years, but they appear to be back on track under the guidance of Michael Carrick.

They've become more of an attractive prospect to new signings, and it's a real opportunity for them to go to the next level.

It's now guaranteed that they will finish in third place in the Premier League, a huge achievement after their recent struggles.

Man Utd Can Now Sign 'Best Player of All Time'

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski previously revealed that he wanted to sign for Manchester United 14 years ago, back in 2012, to work under then-manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"To Manchester United I decided and said yes. I wanted to join Manchester United, to see Alex Ferguson. They [Dortmund] could not sell me because they knew if I stayed they could earn more money, and that I could wait maybe one or two more years. But it is true that I said yes to Manchester United. Maybe it could be a regret [not to play in the Premier League], but when I am looking back [having] played for Bayern Munich, Dortmund and now Barcelona I have to say I am very happy with my career."

United now have the perfect opportunity to secure his signature after Lewandowski made an announcement at the weekend.

The Polish international confirmed that he would be leaving Barcelona in the summer transfer window when his contract with the La Liga giants ends.

Lewandowski the Perfect Man Utd Signing

Lewandowski could be the perfect signing for Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window, considering he's available for nothing.

Signing the Polish international, described as 'the best player of all time' by Tomasz Kuszczak, on a one-year deal, could be perfect for the club and Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian striker has been in and out of the side since arriving at Old Trafford, and bringing in a player of Lewandowski's quality could help him develop by learning from the current Barcelona forward.

It also allows United to continue managing Sesko's minutes, letting him develop in the Premier League and learn his trade.
