Lisa Baum has been confirmed as Arsenal Women's fifth summer addition as summer transfer overhaul continues

Arsenal have announced their fifth summer signing for the women’s team as Lisa Baum arrives from RB Leipzig.

football.london understands the player has signed a deal which will keep her in North London until 2029 with an option to extend by a further year.

The Gunners had been in talks for a deal over the summer and will be delighted to add the exciting young winger. At just 19 years of age Baum has already made waves in the Bundesliga.

Signing for RB Leipzig in 2025 after a successful stint with Hamburger SV, it has taken just a single season to catch the eye of the double European champions, who have been on a spree of sorts this summer. Baum will add plenty of quality to the wide areas that Renee Slegers can call upon.

“I’m so happy to join Arsenal, and I can’t wait to get started,” Baum told Arsenal’s official website. “This league is so competitive, and Arsenal is a big club, so I’m excited to challenge myself and compete with the best.

“I want to win trophies and develop my game, and Arsenal feels like the perfect match to achieve that.”

Trophies are certainly on the agenda at Arsenal. Following the men’s success in the Premier League last season, and the Champions League victory for the women the season before, football.london understands the ‘One Club’ model of a holistic approach to running both sides of the club has led to this investment. The ownership want to be dominant in the men’s and women’s game.

Baum joins Ona Batlle, Geraldine Reuteler, Selina Cerci and Georgia Stanway who have already arrived. Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley had been extremely busy in the market and is very happy with the latest addition.

“We’re delighted to complete the signing of Lisa,” Wheatley said. “One of the most highly rated young wingers in Europe, Lisa has a high ceiling, and we feel this is the perfect place for her to develop and thrive. We look forward to watching her journey here with us at Arsenal.”

Arsenal finished second, four points off Manchester City but above their bitter rivals Chelsea. But it will have been a frustration they did not come out on top when finally overcoming the Blues as they did.

The work done behind the scenes is no doubt a reaction to that, and head coach Slegers believes Baum adds further hope of becoming champions next season.

“Lisa is a young wide forward who will bring direct intent and athleticism to our attacking group,” Slegers said. “At 19, she is still developing, and we believe she has huge potential, which we will support her to achieve. We welcome her to Arsenal and look forward to the road ahead together.”
