Alex Eala earns 'hero' status from Lacson

Senator Panfilo Lacson said Filipina tennis star Alexandra Eala is the country’s newest and youngest national hero.

“Make way for our newest and youngest national hero – Alex Eala!” declared Lacson in a post on X.

Lacson made the description after Eala fought her way in a win against Caty MacNally despite rolling and hurting her right foot during a match held on Saturday (Aug. 8) at the Canadian open.

Eala joined the Canadian open after having snatched her first Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) trophy at the recent 2026 Mubadala DC Open in Washington, D.C.

The Filipina’s win against MacNally was her seventh consecutive win against a tennis player.

Eala scored 6-3, 5-7, and 6-4 against the American tennis player.
