India In Action At Athletics LIVE Updates, Asian Games 2026: India's Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav are fighting for gold in the men's javelin throw final, and Murali Sreeshankar is eyeing gold in the men's long jump final, on Day 9 of Asian Games 2026. Earlier, Vithya Ramraj broke the national record and secured bronze in the women's 400m hurdles final and Gulveer Singh secured silver in the men's 1500m final.Vithya completed her race in just 54.75s, breaking the previous record of 55.42s jointly held by herself and the legendary PT Usha. Meanwhile, Gulveer achieved a personal best of 3:36.72 in the 1500m final, and narrowly missed out on gold. Avinash Sable failed to defend his gold from Hangzhou, finishing fourth in the men's 3000m steeplechase. India have won 16 athletics medals so far at Aichi-Nagoya 2026, but the hunt for a first athletics gold still continues. (Asian Games Medals Tally)

India's 1-2 in the men's javelin final is restored as Rohit Yadav shoots up to the gold medal spot with a throw of 84.35m. Yash Vir Singh is right behind in the silver spot. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage is third after an invalid third attempt. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem throws his season best of 80.29m to jump to fourth.

Asian Games Athletics LIVE: BRONZE FOR PARUL!

Another bronze medal for Parul Chaudhary! A superb run from the Indian, and she bags bronze in the women's 5000m final! She adds to her bronze from the women's 3000m steeplechase. Gold and silver medalist in Hangzhou, now a double bronze in Aichi-Nagoya.

Seema finishes a respectable sixth.

The women's 5000m final is on, with India's Parul Chaudhary and Seema fighting for a medal. Both are running with the lead pack, and contending at the front halfway through the race.

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage has jumped up to second with a throw of 83.34m on his second attempt! He is still behind Yash Vir, who throws 82.99m on his second go.

Rohit Yadav improves to 82.40m but drops to third due to Pathirage's throw. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem is fifth after an invalid second attempt.

Asian Games Athletics: VITHYA WINS BRONZE! National record!

Vithya Ramraj storms to bronze in the women's 400m hurdles! And she's also broken the national record in the event, which she jointly held with PT Usha earlier. The previous record of 55.42s has been broken, because Vithya has blitzed it in just 54.75s! WOW!

Anu Raghavan also with a personal best of 55.88s, but she comes up fifth.

Asian Games Athletics LIVE: Several track medal events coming up

We have a number of track medal events in front of us! In less than 10 minutes, Vithya Ramraj and Anu Raghavan will race in the women's 400m hurdles final. Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan will then race in the men's 400m hurdles final.

Seema Kaliramna with an excellent 59.81m throw on her final attempt, but that won't be good enough to secure her a medal in the women's discus throw final. Twice she has breached her previous personal best today, so it's a really, really respectable effort from her. Even more so given the slippery conditions.

Unfortunately, India fail to win a medal in women's discus throw for the first time in 28 years.
