Arsenal would reportedly need to match PSG's KSh 23.6 billion (£140m) asking price to stand any chance of hijacking Liverpool's pursuit

Arsenal are preparing to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola as their pursuit of Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior appears increasingly unlikely to materialise.

Vinicius Junior set to stay at Real Madrid

The Brazilian, whose contract at the Bernabéu expires next summer, had been the subject of significant transfer speculation, with Arsenal among the clubs linked.

However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid are now closing in on a new long-term deal for Vinicius Junior following positive talks.

"Real Madrid are closing in on new deal for Vinicius Jr after positive talks yesterday. The verbal agreement is now at final stages; final details being discussed then green light to proceed with new long term contract. José Mourinho, also pushing for Vini to stay," Romano said.

Arsenal's Barcola Alternative

Should Vinicius Junior sign a new contract at the Bernabéu, Arsenal are reportedly ready to redirect their attention towards Barcola, the France international who starred at the 2026 World Cup. According to talkSPORT, the Gunners have identified him as a viable target after he rejected several contract proposals from PSG in recent months.

Despite Arsenal's reported interest, it is widely believed that Liverpool remain the frontrunners for Barcola's signature, with the two clubs already understood to be in active discussions over a potential deal.

Any move by Arsenal to intervene would require them to match PSG's valuation of the winger, with the French club holding out for a fee in the region of KSh 23.6 billion (£140m).
