Benjamin Arthur: Portsmouth sign Brentford defender on loan

Portsmouth have signed defender Benjamin Arthur on a season-long loan from Premier League side Brentford.

The 20-year-old centre-half spent some of last season on loan in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic, where he made six appearances.

Arthur has made three senior appearances for the Bees and has been capped by England up to Under-20 level.

Blues boss John Mousinho said: "We're thrilled to bring Benjamin here for the season to boost our defensive ranks.

"He possesses all the attributes you expect of a centre-back and is also more than comfortable with the ball at his feet.

"Despite his relatively young age, he already has experience of top-flight football, and we feel he can be a real asset as we look to progress in our third season in the Championship."
