PSL 2026: Naseem Shah has once again found himself in a difficult situation. Just days after being fined by the Pakistan Cricket Board for a social media post involving a politician, the young fast bowler is now out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2026 season due to new fitness concerns. This latest development has clearly not gone down well with the board.

As reported by Telecom Asia, Naseem picked up a side strain during Rawalpindi’s match against the Karachi Kings last week. He missed the following game, and that absence has only added to worries about his recurring fitness troubles.

The PCB is reportedly unhappy with the situation and is now thinking about taking further action. The concerns are not limited to his fitness alone but also extend to his overall conduct. For now, Naseem is set to go through a detailed rehabilitation program under the PCB’s medical team.

Naseem Shah’s Social Media Controversy and PCB’s Warning

This comes shortly after Naseem was fined PKR 20 million for a social media post criticising Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Following that incident, the PCB issued a strict reminder to all centrally contracted players about being responsible on social media, warning that any violations would be dealt with seriously.

“Naseem suffered a side strain during Rawalpindi’s match against Karachi Kings on Thursday and missed the team’s last match, which has raised serious questions over his fitness,” sources told the website.

“Naseem’s rise has been stunted by off-field behaviour. His excessive attention to advertisements and podcasts has derailed his career. He also missed the 2023 ODI World Cup due to fitness issues, which are blots on his career. Naseem will appear before the medical panel under Dr Javed Mughal in the next couple of days, as the selection committee is also not happy with his frequent fitness issues,” the report added.

Naseem Shah’s Injury History Raises Long-Term Concerns

This isn’t the first time fitness has interrupted Naseem’s progress. He had earlier picked up an injury during the 2026 T20 World Cup, which ruled him out of the series against the Bangladesh national team. On top of that, he was moved down to Category C in the central contracts list, highlighting ongoing concerns about his consistency and availability.
