Manchester City Women have opened their new £10m training faciliity designed to give them an edge in the gameManchester City have opened their new £10m training facility for the women's team to give the WSL champions a bespoke home. After years of sharing a building with the men's academy teams for the last decade, Andree Jeglertz's team will move into their own space designed to give them extra help to retain their competitive edge.It has been a hugely successful year for City Women, who will lift the WSL trophy on Saturday for the first time in ten years after surprising the pundits to beat Chelsea, Arsenal, and United to the title. The Blues also have a chance for a double when they head down to Wembley at the end of May for the FA Cup Final.Opening the new training facility gives them the opportunity to build on those gains and keep making improvements to the squad in the future. With first team players and staff having had a say on the design of the 17,000 square feet, there is also a circular dressing room like the one at the Etihad to promote unity.Click here to find out the latest Manchester City news in our daily newsletterCity intend to optimise recovery and preparation while minimising injuries in a purpose-built building for a women's team, and included in the building are a gym with specialist strength and conditioning facilities, dedicated medical, rehab and physio spaces, hydrotherapy and recovery areas.“This new facility marks the next logical step in our long-term commitment to Manchester City Women, and is an important milestone for the club as a whole," said chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. “We have always believed in investing to create the right environment for players and staff to develop and succeed."That approach has underpinned every aspect of our work since the professional relaunch of Manchester City Women in 2014.
