Premier League champions Arsenal are believed to be keen to sign Julian Alvarez this summer and are “pushing” hard to beat Barcelona in the race for the Argentina international. However, there Gunners looks set for disappointment as Alvarez is not even willing to listen to offers from the Premier League, according to Diario Sport. The report claims that Alvarez has “ruled out the possibility of listening to proposals from the Premier League” and simply does not want to play his football in England again following a previous stint at Manchester City.Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta have both been trying to tempt Alvarez to London, but the forward has made it clear that he wants to stay in Spain and head to Barcelona.Alvarez’s stance has also been made clear to Atletico. Diego Simeone’s side don’t want to let Alvarez go and would prefer to sell abroad, but the forward’s refusal to even think about a Premier League move seems to have closed that particular door.Barcelona are expected to try again for Alvarez after the World Cup. Club president Joan Laporta has admitted his club are keen to land the Atletico star but warned their most recent offer “is not open-ended.”
