Tilak Varma hits maiden IPL ton as Mumbai Indians crush Gujarat Titans by 99 runs, Bumrah and Siraj share lighthearted banter over biryani and Sirajs DSP role.

The IPL 2026 match no. 30, between the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians, not only witnessed top-class cricketing experience but also saw some fun banter between the players from both sides. Jasprit Bumrah, the MI spearhead, caught up with his Team India bowling partner, Mohammed Siraj, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, and what followed was absolute fun.

In a video shared by the Gujarat Titans, Bumrah can be seen pulling Siraj’s leg in front of Prasidh Krishna, complaining that the latter doesn’t send Birayani whenever he visits Hyderabad. Bumrah added that there are no police vehicles to escort his, with ‘DSP’ written on it.

“When I go to Hyderabad, I ask him to send Biryani, then he does. There’s no police car waiting for me, which says DSP," Bumrah said and chuckled.

The MI pacer further asked the GT quick, “Promotion hua ki nahi? Commissioner hai (Did you get promoted)."

For the unversed, Siraj was appointed as the Telangana Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The right-arm quick was granted a Group-I government post for his service to the Indian team, including the T20 World Cup success in the Caribbean. Along with the DSP post in Telangana police, the pacer was allotted 600 square yards of land by the government in Hyderabad.

Mumbai Beat Gujarat By 5 Wickets

Tilak Varma produced a knock for the ages, smashing his maiden IPL hundred to power the Mumbai Indians to a crushing 99-run win over the Gujarat Titans. Struggling at 19 off 22, Tilak turned it around after a strategic time-out pep talk from Hardik Pandya, blasting 82 off his next 23 balls to finish unbeaten on 101 off 45. MI’s 199/5 proved more than enough as Jasprit Bumrah struck first ball and Ashwani Kumar (4/24) dismantled GT, who were bowled out for 100.

Kagiso Rabada’s fiery spell had earlier rattled MI, but Tilak’s late onslaught, including eight fours and seven sixes, changed the game. The win ended MI’s losing streak and boosted their net run rate significantly.
