Qatar’s Assim Madibo has been slapped with a five-game ban for a sickening tackle that ruled Canada’s Ismael Kone out of the World Cup.

Madibo was shown a straight red card in the second half of Qatar’s 6-0 loss to Canada after he clipped the back of Kone’s ankle, causing him to hit the turf with significant force and break his leg.

Madibo was in visible distress after realising the severity of his actions, later visiting Canada’s dressing room to apologise for the injury he caused.

Madibo and Kone were pictured together on Thursday before the ban was revealed.

Add another name to the list of goalscorers for Brazil against Scotland.

Matheus Cunha has found his groove, teaming up with Bruno Guimaraes to find the back of the net.

The pair bounced the ball between each other down the middle of the field before Guimaraes drew three defenders towards him and popped the ball over to an open Cunha to finish off the job.

“Brazil are in cruise control,” Mark Schwarzer said on SBS.

Paraguay has lodged a formal complaint to FIFA relating to the officiating of English star Jude Bellingham after he escaped a red card when facing Ghana.

A video of Bellingham covering his mouth when speaking with Jordan Ayew during England’s 0-0 draw to Ghana has been circulating online, with many questioning how he escaped any punishment for his actions under the new FIFA rules.

It was revealed prior to the tournament that any player who used their hands to cover their mouth when confronting an opponent would be shown a red.

Paraguay’s Miguel Almiron was the first player in World Cup history to be shown red for using his hands to cover his mouth, meaning he will now sit out of Paraguay’s upcoming match against Australia on Friday (AEST).

Due to this, Paraguay have lodged a protest to learn why Bellingham’s action was not punished by the referee. Had it been, it would be a major loss for England.

It is unclear which way FIFA will go with the protest at this time, as it could be argued that Bellingham was not speaking to Ayew in a confrontational manner.

Still, it will be a nervous wait for England to learn if their star midfielder will be available to face Panama on Sunday.

The Three Lions are also awaiting the results of fitness tests with Reece James and Declan Rice for that match.

He thought he had a double earlier, but now it is official on the scoreboard.

Vinicius Junior can not be stopped by Scotland’s defence, who again failed to clear the ball out of their half and left the door open for the Real Madrid star to score.

He is now up to four goals at this tournament. Certainly more to come.

It just seems to easy for Brazil at the moment.

The clock has just ticked over the 30-minute mark and the game has already completed its first hydration break.

Andy Robertson is still in high spirits to get his team back on track and he has found a way to get them to push forward into Brazil’s half.

The Scots were unable to find a chance to strike at the net but they have received two corners in a short space of time.

But they’ve given away a free kick for an infringement inside the box.

“They can’t afford to be doing that,” Mark Schwarzer said on SBS.

It is a party in Atlanta at the moment.

Haiti have just nailed their first goal at the 2026 World Cup against Morocco.

There were four defenders inside the box when the cross came in, but Lenny Joseph outclassed them all, sending the ball straight into the back of the net.

The fans are going wild for the underdogs.
