Athletics campaign begins, Anahat Singh begins Olympic quest

Athletics and the start of Anahat Singh's squash campaign headline India's schedule at the Asian Games 2026 today, September 24,

India's mixed 4x400m relay team will be eyeing an upgrade, having bagged silver at Hangzhou 2023. This year, Jay Kumar, Manu Thekkinalil Saji, Rashdeep Kaur and Ansa Babu will form the India quartet.

Seema, meanwhile, will run in the women's 10000m final today, while Niharika Vashisht and Asha Ilango contest the women's triple jump final at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.

India will also have multiple medal races in rowing and canoe sprint.

Shooting offers medals on two fronts, with the men's 10m air pistol and the skeet mixed team events on the schedule.

Pranati Nayak also contests the women's vault final in artistic gymnastics while fellow Olympian Bhavani Devi is in action in women's sabre fencing.

Meanwhile, India's kabaddi and hockey teams continue their group stage campaigns after impressive starts at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

Sakshi Chaudhary will be in focus among three Indians in boxing as she takes on reigning world champion Alua Balkibekova of Kazakhstan in the women's 51kg round of 16, having beaten an Olympic medallist in her previous bout.

There will also be medal opportunities in swimming while Paritosh will compete in the Puyo Puyo Champions esports event. Table tennis will also be on the agenda.
